NetZeroPlus
The NetZeroPlus (NZ+) project is playing a critical role in supporting the UK Government's commitment to achieving ‘net zero’ greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Of the Greenhouse Gas Removal (GGR) options available, increasing the carbon stored in the UK’s treescapes– including forests, woodlands and hedgerows, soils and in timber products – has the greatest potential, the lowest cost, and can be started immediately. NetZeroPlus examines all aspects of forestry to identify both The Right Tree in the Right Place and The Right Places for the Right Trees.

The economics of biodiversity additionality (BIOADD)

BIOADD explores the economic, biophysical, and political determinants of deforestation, natural forest regrowth, and biodiversity in the Amazon basin (particularly Bolivia) and Indonesia. As part of the project, we develop new methods to account for additionality from forest carbon, taking into account the likelihood of deforestation and secondary forest regrowth. The project aims to provide workable tools for effective policy on nature-based solutions to climate change and on biodiversity conservation.
